Returns and Refunds

Last updated: 22 April 2026

We want you to be happy with your purchase. If something is not right, this page explains your rights and how to return items to us.

1. Your right to change your mind

Under UK consumer law, you have 14 days from the day you receive your order to let us know you want to cancel, and a further 14 days to return the item to us. You do not need to give a reason.

To start a return, please email us at support@helpfulthings.co.uk with your order number. You can also use the returns note that came with your order.

Please pack the item carefully with all accessories and any user manual. You are entitled to open the packaging and examine the item as you would in a shop. If the item is returned with damage or missing parts that go beyond normal inspection, we may deduct a reasonable amount from your refund to reflect the loss in value.

Please do not remove or break the seal on any audio, media, or software items, as we cannot accept returns of these once opened.

You are responsible for the cost of returning an unwanted item and for its safe arrival, so we recommend a tracked, signed-for service. Please do not send returns to a PO Box address, as they will not be received.

2. Refunds for cancelled orders

Once we receive the returned item, we will refund you within 14 days. The refund will include the standard delivery cost you paid to receive the item. If you chose a more expensive delivery option, we will refund the cost of our standard service only. We do not refund the cost of returning the item to us.

Refunds are made to the original payment method.

3. Faulty or misdescribed items

If something develops a fault, or is not as described, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in addition to any manufacturer warranty.

Within 30 days of delivery, you can reject a faulty item for a full refund.

Between 30 days and six months after delivery, we will repair or replace the item at no cost to you. If a repair or replacement is not possible or practical, you are entitled to a refund.

After six months, the same rights apply, but it becomes your responsibility to show that the fault was present at the time of delivery.

Many of our products also carry a manufacturer's warranty of one year, and some up to two years. Where a warranty claim is the quickest route to a resolution, we are happy to help you co-ordinate this, but your contract is with us and you can deal with us directly at any time.

For faulty items, we will cover the cost of return postage and arrange collection where practical.

4. How to contact us

For any return, refund, or warranty question, please email support@helpfulthings.co.uk Please include your order number.

This policy does not affect your statutory rights.
